CLIMATE COMPENSATION What does climate neutrality mean? Climate neutrality is the balance between CO2 emissions and the uptake of carbon from the atmosphere. To achieve climate neutrality, all green house gas emissions that we cause worldwide must be captured at an equal level. Why is climate compensation and CO2 reduction important? The constantly increasing CO2 emissions are driving climate change and global warming. Sun rays warm up the Earth’s surface, but the heat is not completely absorbed and part of it is reflected into the atmosphere. Our atmosphere consists of different gases, such as CO2. With the cur- rent imbalance, the CO2 layer is becoming denser so some of the sun rays are sent back to our planet which is then additionally heated causing the so-called greenhouse effect. Why do Ege Carpets offer voluntary CO2 compensation? We have an ambitious strategy, where we continuously aim to reduce our CO2-emission, which constantly drives us in our ways of production, use of raw materials and transportation. We also invest in renewable energy to offset our negative impact. With the mangrove forest project, we want to give our customers the opportunity to help towards a C02 neutral future.
