How to quantify ege carpets 4.0 m wide broadloom To assist flooring contractors to quantify carpet requirements for major and/or complex bespoke projects ege take this opportunity to provide useful guidance that will help with this process. There are four main categories of carpet requirements which will cover most projects: – – – – Broadloom designs (with fixed pattern repeats) Bespoke large designs/non repeating designs Bedrooms Corridors Broadloom (with fixed pattern repeat) Once the design is known ege will supply the flooring contractor with the relevant pattern repeats, width & length. Then it is a simple task for the flooring contactor to work out his required/preferred roll lengths based on this data. ege manufactures 4 m wide rolls. However, it should be emphasised that carpets are always supplied with a tolerance of +/- 3 cm, a factor which is important to take into consideration when calculating the total amount of carpet needed for a project. If a corridor measures precisely 2 or 4 m in width, then the contractor will possibly need to use fillers when installing to cover the possible tolerance deviation in the carpet width. Therefore, when reference is made to 4 m carpet width on the following pages, it is important to include the potential tolerance of +/- 3 cm. All pattern reports are designed to fit a width of 392 cm. Bespoke large designs/non repeating designs Often there is no design repeat and it becomes a little more difficult for the flooring contractors to determine the required roll lengths. For example, on the next page, you see a typical function room 11 m x 5 m with a central rug element. 2
